Kura is a homage to an ancient primal sound resonating throughout this land of Aotearoa. The primeval song of the Red Earth/Maukoroa, Uha te toto o Papatuuaanuku/The life blood of the Earth Mother. These works explore timeless themes through the exploration of the colour and essence of Kura/red, in metaphors of creation, love, beauty, birth, life, resurrection ·.. I have drunk deeply of the waters of inspiration in Te Ure a Reehua/South Island. Always diving deeper into the Tuuaapapa/foundation of this timeless land in search of it's beating green hearts song. I now pay my respects to the Ageless Guardians of that beating green heart. The heard but not seen, the seen but not heard. The children of the Inner Mountain - The Maaeroero, Kui, Patupaiarehe, Tuurehu, Menehune, Shining ones, The Hidden-folk, Fairies, the Ancients· Every country in the world have their stories honoring and later dishonoring these folk. Fact or fairytale, it does not matter. Laugh, dance and sing your dreams as the Maaero do, opening up a whole new world to you.
