From beneath a yoga ridden sky came the enthusiasm of a middle aged crisis before its time. With long dark hair and eyes of fire she took to tribal like a four-armed demon.
E-Lysaah has an infectious passion for tribal style belly dance that is unmatched across our nation, she turns her students to the sun of tribal and like flowers they blossom under its attention.
Her enthusiasm for this art is limited only by her ability to fund travel for training. Undertaking at least one international trip a year in search of incredible teachers to learn from and bring skills back to New Zealand, she has been from Perth, Australia to Las Vegas, USA and trained with not only Belly Dance Superstars such as Rachel Brice and Mardi Love, but popular teachers such as Amy Sigil of Unmata and Heather Stants of Urban Tribal. E-Lysaah studies not only to further her own performance skills but to learn new techniques and movements to bring back for her students.
As a tribal teacher you would expect that she focuses strongly on this style, however E-Lysaah is an accomplished Tribal Fusion dancer and to achieve this level she continues to study oriental, cabaret and other dance forms to enhance knowledge. We are never sure what scintillating piece will be performed at our Haflas and Club events.
Along with teaching at the School of Contemporary Belly Dance E-Lysaah is a member of troupe Kiwi Iwi, an oceanic pacific style tribal group, and wrangles a revolving group of belly dance artists under the umbrella of Red Queens. These groups both study and perform at the School.
Every year since 2006 E-Lysaah has brought an international level teacher to Christchurch to teach and perform; her passion for providing belly dance opportunities to students is envious and unparalleled.
