The Christchurch Liedertafel is the oldest choir in the Southern Hemisphere. It was founded in 1885, and has been performing ever since. Membership currently stands at about 60.

The choir normally performs three times a year, at Durham St Methodist church in May and August, and at the Christ Church Cathedral in November.
